Fleur de bra was created in 2021 to bring the artists of our city together with the female professionals of our community to raise funds for a common goal: to support the women of Louisiana needing breast reconstruction after mastectomy surgery.  Where breast surgery causes destruction, the art of reconstruction aims to restore beauty and confidence so that a woman might heal with dignity and grace. There has never been a more passionate and supportive collective of people working together in New Orleans, Louisiana than the participants of Fleur de Bra.

Fleur de Bra Inc was established in 2026 to protect our community's donations and ensure these funds stay in the hands of Louisiana residents. We award grants to local nonprofit organizations that offer programs aligning with our mission to ensure proceeds are distributed to breast cancer patients from Louisiana needing reconstructive surgery.

Transparency and accountability to our donors, sponsors, and volunteers are important to us.  We want to take this opportunity to share how funds raised by the Fleur de Bra event have been used historically and to explain the steps we're taking to strengthen that accountability going forward.

In 2023, the Fleur de Bra event directed 100% of net proceeds ($47,186) to our historical beneficiaries: Breastoration and Cancer Association of Louisiana (CALA).  In 2024, we raised $125,130, and in 2025, we raised $227,269, again with 100% of net proceeds provided to Breastoration and CALA.  No funds raised through the event were used to cover administrative expenses.  This was made possible by the generosity of the design teams, photographers, vendors, and artists who volunteered their time or provided services at reduced cost to preserve funds for breast cancer survivors.

To ensure that event proceeds continue to be used exactly as our donors intend, we formed a new nonprofit corporation, Fleur de Bra, Inc., dedicated to the stewardship and distribution of Fleur de Bra’s event proceeds.  This step reflects our ongoing commitment to accountability and to ensuring contributions directly and reliably benefit Louisiana breast cancer survivors.

We have not yet selected the beneficiary organization(s) for this year's event.  Because we want to make a thoughtful, well-informed decision, we are taking time to fully review the scope and impact of past proceeds before determining where 2026 funds will go.  We anticipate announcing our 2026 beneficiary or beneficiaries on or around October 1, 2026, and will notify all sponsors and donors directly once that decision is made.

Following this year's event, and each year thereafter, Fleur de Bra, Inc. will provide sponsors and donors with an annual notice detailing the impact of their contributions after the close of each calendar year.

Thank you for considering a gift to support our mission. Our application for federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) is currently pending with the Internal Revenue Service. We anticipate receiving a determination within this calendar year. Under IRS rules, if our application is ultimately approved, recognition is generally effective retroactively to the date our organization was formed. As a result, qualifying contributions made during this period are generally expected to be treated as tax-deductible once our exemption is recognized. We sincerely appreciate your support and will promptly notify all donors once our determination letter is received.
