Our Mission

Fleur de Bra was founded in 2021 by Plastic & Reconstructive surgeon Dr. Suma Maddox. Her goal is to unite the artists of New Orleans and the women professionals of her community in support of a shared purpose: raising funds to help Louisiana women access breast reconstruction after mastectomy surgery. Every breast surgery alters the woman, but the art of reconstruction is about far more than restoring form. It is about helping women reclaim their confidence, heal with grace, and embrace moving forward with dignity. Fleur de Bra has become a remarkable collaboration of creativity, compassion, and community. There has never been a more passionate, generous, and inspiring group of individuals working together, each contributing their talents to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women across Louisiana.

Thank you for considering a gift to support our mission. Our application for federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) is currently pending with the Internal Revenue Service. We anticipate receiving a determination within this calendar year. Under IRS rules, if our application is ultimately approved, recognition is generally effective retroactively to the date our organization was formed. As a result, qualifying contributions made during this period are generally expected to be treated as tax-deductible once our exemption is recognized. We sincerely appreciate your support and will promptly notify all donors once our determination letter is received.
